My Research

Thesis Research

I am currently in the process of completing my doctoral prospectus for candidacy, after which I plan to sit for my candidacy oral and written examinations. Briefly, my thesis will examine patient-practitioner interactions in different sites of intervention, through the lens of critical phenomenology.

Supervisory Committee:

Supervisor: Dr. Ariel Ducey, Department of Sociology, University of Calgary.
Committee Member: Dr. Martina Kelly, Department of Family Medicine, University of Calgary.
Committee Member: Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary.

Independent Research Projects

In addition to my thesis research, I am also running an independent project that draws from a blend of critical phenomenology and historical sociological methods to examine how knowledge was produced and mediated in the clinics of Nise da Silveira in twentieth-century Rio de Janeiro.

This work was supported by a $5,000.00 scholarship, the Michael & Michelle Williams Award in Science, Technology, Environment and Medicine Studies, that was awarded in collaboration with the History of Medicine Days Conference 2024 at the University of Calgary in March 2024.

Research Assistantships

I am currently hired as the lead research assistant for a project led by Dr Mike Adorjan and Dr Rose Ricciardelli. This project concerns youth mental wellbeing and cyber-risk in Canada. As a part of this work, I coordinate recruitment of participants and conduct qualitative semi-structured in-depth interviews. I then analyse the data post-transcription, coding it in NVivo.
